Being in the fashion industry and in a time where social media is all that everybody talks about, everyone wants to be a blogger. For many people, a blog can be an outlet to express oneself, let out emotions and thoughts, and to others, blogging is a job. It can be someones livelihood.
My love for fashion started when I was in my junior year of high school. For a few years, I felt myself getting caught up in feeling the need to post anything and everything all the time and really focus on making sure I got “enough likes.” I saw so many people around my age building their lives through blogging, so I wanted in. However, this last year I’ve learned to realize that I am just not for that lifestyle. Instead, I rather invest time and meaningful thought into what I share online. For example, I’ve been following a blogger named Paige Secosky for a while now and I appreciate her being open and relatable as she is a college student in NYC as well, and that she spreads awareness about the effects humans and the fashion industry have on the planet. My hope with blogging is that it will allow me to share my love for fashion, but in a tasteful way. Meaning I want to embrace and celebrate everyones creativity but also encourage others to think about what they’re wearing and why they’re wearing it. I want to make blogging casual again and not so superficial. My blog will build my confidence and I hope others as well because I’ll share things that I’m passionate about and that I’m proud of. Taking the time to think about what is meaningful to me and what I want others to see and learn about fashion will also help me and force me to be a better thinker and be conscious about what I do, who I support, and how I want to live my life!
I want my blog to inspire others into being more conscious of how they’re feeling mentally and in what direction we all want the fashion industry to go in. It’s easy to get caught up into the lux-lifestyle that everyone wants to present on social media, so I hope that my blog will be a breath of fresh air, something that people my age can relate to, and be a source of inspiration.
